Jim Huck has developed into a road warrior for Industrial Flow Solutions as the company’s business development manager for its Overwatch direct in-line pumping system.
Huck, 37, said he got into the pump industry two years ago due to “luck.”
“For the previous decade, I had been working in the rotating equipment industry serving a wide variety of markets,” Huck said. “I had developed a reputation for passionate dedication in technical sales and brining new products to market. One thing led to another, and here I am.”
Huck has become a face for that IFS brand, hosting popular Coffees and Case Studies, as well as Lunch and Learns.
“This has driven me to dive deep into the challenges that this segment experiences and develop alternative designs that are improvements to current trends,” Huck said.
Huck said his previous career experiences did not provide much of an opportunity to learn the process in which wastewater was handled or treated. However, it did help him learn from mentors, and he was able to develop his own engineered process.
“Everyone in the industry has one common goal of improving water,” Huck said. “Partners, customers and even competitors applaud an innovative solution to improve the management of water/wastewater.”
Huck said he wishes he knew the importance of joining associations as a younger engineer and encouraged others to get involved in groups with others, especially ones focusing on young professionals.
“Diversity of thought helps expand your mind to new ideas,” Huck said. “Connecting with those who come from different backgrounds helps involve your creative thinking.”
What has you most excited about the future of this industry?
The commitment from global leaders from around the world to improve our environment. Water is the core of our environment. We all need it to survive; yet, far too many people still do not have access to fresh water. Improving the whole life cycle of water needs to be a top priority to everyone in the world.
