Eaton Marketing Director Charles Tahara answered the following questions from Pumps & Systems for our 2024 State of the Industry issue.
What is your company doing to address the skills gap?
Understanding the challenges our customers will face with shortages of skilled labor, we are leveraging our award-winning UX/UI (user experience/user interface) design team to develop products with intuitive keypads and interfaces, so someone with no experience [with] a mobile phone can pick up our products immediately.
What issues have you seen with any material shortages or supply chain issues?
Even though the supply of resins and electrical metals has improved in 2023, electronics and other materials continue to be a challenge as we approach the end of the year. This has driven a high focus on supply chain and engineering resiliency activities, although 2024 is showing signs of supply chain recovery.
What’s on your mind/what are you most concerned about?
Supply chain recovery and softening end-markets are creating high inventory positions for a lot of customers and distributors. Navigating this will be a key challenge in H1 2024.
