HANOI, Vietnam (June 12, 2012) – Xylem Inc., a global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, announced that it has opened a new office in Hanoi, Vietnam, to promote and market its technologies and solutions and support the growth of its Water Solutions business in the south east Asian state. Xylem’s new presence in the country is part of the company’s long-term strategy to grow business within high-potential emerging markets like Vietnam.
The team in Hanoi will focus on growing local business opportunities, particularly in the water and wastewater treatment, wastewater transport, irrigation, flood control and mining industries. The new base will also be used to up-skill local talent by implementing professional development training programs for employees in order to maximize business opportunities in the region. Xylem will continue to sell through its distribution partners in Vietnam which the company has been working with since 2004.
Andy Rumary, managing director of Xylem Water Solutions Hong Kong said, “We believe that a significant opportunity exists to grow our business within Vietnam. Our new base will enable us to work more closely with our locally based distributors and partners in order to grow market share and develop sales and aftermarket services opportunities for the business.”
“In particular, we plan on expanding within the mining market; Vietnam holds the world’s third largest bauxite ore reserves as well as significant coal reserves which supply the southern Chinese market. As part of this we will expand our Flygt and Godwin dewatering rental business for the mining and water pumping markets. Xylem’s Flygt and Leopold brands are already well known within the country – through our new presence we will introduce the expertise of Xylem’s other market leading brands to Vietnam,” concluded Rumary.
Xylem is a global water technology provider, enabling customers to transport, treat, test and efficiently use water in public utility, residential and commercial building services, industrial and agricultural settings.
