ERLANGEN, Germany (July 8, 2013) – Mario Azar is appointed CEO of the Solutions Business Unit in the Oil & Gas Division of Siemens’ Energy Sector effective July 1. Prior to this appointment, he was Executive Vice President of Siemens Energy’s Gas Turbine Power Plant Solutions in the Fossil Power Generation Division since 2008 with responsibility for the business in North and South America.
Azar received his university education in the USA and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1989 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He started his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in 1990. Before and after the power generation business of Westinghouse was acquired by Siemens, Mr. Azar occupied various positions in Energy gaining broad and diverse experience in the business with International experience in China and Germany. Mr. Azar speaks English, Arabic, and French and is a citizen of the USA.

The Oil & Gas Solutions Business Unit is headquartered in Houston, Texas and operates globally with hubs located in major centers for the Oil & Gas industry in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. It offers Oil & Gas customers one-stop packaged business solutions and life cycle management services in multiple fields such as Offshore Drilling and Production, Field Solutions, Tank farm & Gas Storage, E-houses, Compression & Power Generation Modules, Water Solutions, & Subsea amongst other fields.
The Siemens Energy Sector is a supplier of a broad spectrum of products, services and solutions for power generation in thermal power plants and using renewables, power transmission in grids and for the extraction, processing and transport of oil and gas. In fiscal 2012 (ended Sept. 30), the Energy Sector had revenues of EUR27.5 billion and received new orders totaling approximately EUR26.9 billion and posted a profit of EUR2.2 billion. On September 30, 2012, the Energy Sector had a work force of almost 86,000.
