WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (May 15, 2014) – Dorian Drake International Inc. announced the launch of a new consulting division that will assist manufacturers seeking to grow their international sales and distribution. The new division, Dorian Drake Consulting, will help manufacturers develop and implement international market entry and branding strategies; assess competition, pricing, duty, tax and regulatory issues; identify and vet prospective manufacturing joint venture partners, licensing arrangements and acquisition targets; arrange export financing and credit insurance; and staff and manage their own export departments. The consulting unit will initially focus its efforts in the same industries that Dorian Drake International works—automotive aftermarket, food service equipment and supplies, hardware and lawn & garden, and industrial and environmental—but only with clients that do not compete with the export management firm’s clientele. The new division will operate from the company’s headquarters in White Plains, and will be spearheaded by Jon Plimpton, who owned and operated his own export representative firm, IBMI, from 1991 to 2000 and later served as international director for Church & Dwight, the New Jersey-based manufacturer of various consumer products brands, including Arm & Hammer. The division will also draw on the talents of three project managers—Robin Liebowitz, Jerry Owen and Chad Wind—each of whom has run their own international business consulting practice, and the experience and breadth of Dorian Drake International’s global sales force. “What differentiates Dorian Drake Consulting from other consulting firms is the company’s 65 years of experience managing export programs around the world for U.S. and foreign manufacturers,” Plimpton said. “The firm’s experience, combined with our boots on the ground in many markets, will enable us to deliver better, faster results for our consulting clients.” Added Ed Dorian Jr., Dorian Drake’s managing partner: “Dorian Drake has a great deal to offer any manufacturer looking to expand their business internationally. Our new consulting business, now featured on our new website, www.doriandrake.com, simply gives us another way to help firms develop and implement the right international growth strategies.” Dorian Drake International is an export management company that manages international sales and marketing, customer service, credit and collections, and traffic and logistics for manufacturers selling in markets outside the U.S.
