HOUSTON (June 3, 2015) – CH2M, a global full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, is pleased to announce that Earl “Chip” Mitchell has joined the company as president of its Oil, Gas & Chemicals Business Group. In this executive leadership position, Mitchell will be responsible for overall operations, project delivery and profitability for the Oil, Gas & Chemicals Business Group. The group provides project and operations services that span the entire energy value chain, including upstream and midstream oil and gas, refining, chemicals and petrochemicals, pipelines and terminals. Mitchell has an outstanding leadership track record as demonstrated by his ability to drive growth and profitability, as well as lead organizations in new and existing markets. Working both for engineering and construction contractors, his experience spans the upstream, midstream and industrial markets. He has worked in capacities ranging from engineering, construction, program management, and business development, to operations and executive management including the full scope of possible services from concept development through installation and operations. Mitchell’s international experience includes managing several thousand union and non-union field maintenance personnel performing routine maintenance as well as large turnarounds where he was responsible for module and pipe fabrication shops supporting plant operations. “Chip, with his wide experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities, is ideally suited for this role,” says CH2M Chair and CEO Jacque Hinman. “The oil, gas and chemicals markets are poised for substantial growth over the next several years. The group’s recent experience includes program management of major oil and gas developments in the Middle East; engineering, procurement, and construction and oil field operations in the Arctic; refinery upgrades and turnarounds in North and South America; program management for a multi-billion dollar natural gas pipeline safety enhancement program in the United States; pipeline and terminal projects on three continents; and delivery of first-of-a-kind processes for chemical producers around the world. Mitchell has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston, and has spent the past 25 years of his career at Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc., where most recently he was the firm’s Group Vice President for the upstream, midstream and pipeline business. Prior to that assignment, Mitchell was responsible for all OG&C operations in Canada, one of the largest regions in Jacobs. Before joining Jacobs, Mitchell worked at M.W. Kellogg, (now KBR), Howe – Baker Engineers (now CB&I) as well as Allstates Engineering. Mitchell will be located in CH2M‘s Houston office.
