ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - Mekbib Degaga joins planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) as a senior project manager. 

Degaga has more than 29 years of experience in hydrology studies, floodplain mapping, hydraulic structure design and project management. During his career, he has managed, designed and reviewed numerous flood control projects. Previously, he served the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District as the chief of regulatory division, where he managed the district’s environmental services and floodplain management sections. Prior to this position, he served the district as an engineering project manager, senior civil engineer and associate civil engineer. 

“Mekbib’s management skills, technical expertise and understanding of regulatory requirements will be invaluable to our firm,” said Sima Vajdani, LAN’s vice president and business group director – California. “He knows how to implement a flood control project from inception to completion. With his addition, we are looking forward to further improving our flood control services to our California clients.” 

Mekbib received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from San Diego State University.
