During his time with Franklin Electric, he’s been instrumental in the development of innovative solutions, including a new product offering, currently in development, that solves low water pressure problems. Prior to joining Franklin Electric, he served in product management roles at Watts Water Technologies, Mueller Water Products and Xylem. A proud husband and dog dad, he spends his free time enjoying sunsets and exploring local family-owned restaurants.

What is your favorite part of the job?

My role at Franklin Electric as a director of global product management allows me to collaborate with colleagues from different parts of the world. Despite the cultural diversity, we share a common purpose of developing solutions to assist our customers. My role allows me to learn about global water challenges and build strategies that influence and solve these challenges. I enjoy listening to our customers and their customers so I can share their input with our engineering teams. This way, we can innovate with purpose and give our customers the water solutions they need. I am passionate about water, the most important natural resource, and I’m excited to be part of a company that has a global program, Franklin Wells for the World Foundation, that provides sustainable drinking water solutions to those less fortunate.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Creating products for the world market is not easy, as they must meet different rules and standards for drinking water certifications and safety compliance. It can be difficult to navigate cultural differences and language gaps, but even more difficult is managing the politics, policies and compliance of so many foreign governments. The global market is tough, and not all manufacturers may comply to the same standards. These standards can also vary region to region, so we often must look beyond a one-size-fits-all product solution.

What are some of your long-term career goals?

Having an impact! This is a two-part goal. I want to influence product innovation so more people have access to water and so our company continues to grow. Leadership development is important to me, and I really value being a mentor who can help guide someone else’s career path.

What is your advice to college students or young professionals new to the industry?

Be proactive and pursue your goals. Remember that work is important, but time with your friends and family is more important. Keep the customers' needs and pain points in mind as, ultimately, they are paying for the innovation you are selling. Find someone who can offer you advice and support based on their experience. I’ve had a few of these mentors during my career, and their advice is invaluable. Build a network and relationships with colleagues and industry professionals to exchange information, insights and experiences while gaining contacts that can help you reach career goals. Be open-minded when facing challenges. I once heard the phrase “challenge equals growth,” and that has resonated with me for many years.
