ST. LOUIS (March 16, 2012) – Emerson announced it has acquired Avtron Loadbank, a leading designer and manufacturer of high quality load banks and other testing systems and services for the standby power generation, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and other power equipment industries. With over 50 years of experience, Avtron Loadbank’s complete solution for testing power supply systems includes advanced data acquisition, control, and monitoring technologies. Avtron Loadbank will become part of Emerson Network Power’s ASCO business. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Avtron Loadbank has a strong reputation for innovative, high-quality equipment. Their product range and global footprint complement Emerson Network Power very well,” said Scott Barbour, Emerson executive vice president and business leader for Emerson Network Power. The Avtron and Froment brand load banks are an excellent addition to a full range of Emerson Network Power technologies, he said.

“We are increasing the peace of mind data center managers can have, giving them the assurance that their facility will stay up and running,” Barbour said, adding that it also helps bring Emerson into the design and build phase earlier in important project development.

“The acquisition is a perfect fit with our existing services network, expanding the touch points we’re able to provide data center managers,” said Armand Visioli, President of Emerson Network Power’s ASCO business. “The addition of Avtron also leverages our companies’ synergies in sales, marketing, engineering and other key operational areas.”

Jeff Gwinnell, President of Avtron Loadbank, added: “The combination of Avtron Loadbank with Emerson Network Power represents an exciting opportunity for further growth. We see terrific potential to broaden our customer base even further and offer the best products in the industry to customers worldwide.”

Avtron Loadbank is a worldwide leader and industry technology expert in the design and manufacture of high-quality resistive and reactive load banks, neutral grounding resistors and industrial power resistors. Its products are used for factory testing, commissioning, service, and periodic exercising of standby emergency power systems, which include diesel generator sets, gas turbine generators, UPS systems and back-up battery systems.

Avtron Loadbank was one of three companies owned by Avtron Holdings, LLC (“Avtron”). Avtron Industrial Automation, Inc. and Avtron Aerospace, Inc. were not part of this transaction and will continue to operate under Avtron, owned by Morgenthaler Private Equity (MPE)
