HOUSTON (March 4, 2015) – FlexEnergy, Inc., manufacturer of the synchronous generator-based micro-turbines, announced that it has partnered with Waukesha-Pearce Industries (WPI) as its distributor for FlexEnergy’s robust turbine technology. The relationship will initially cover the Marcellus shale gas region. “WPI’s long history as a leading distributor of power generation equipment in North America adds significant breadth and depth to FlexEnergy’s domestic reach,” said Andrew Seys-Llewellyn, director of Business Development for FlexEnergy. “From the outset, the WPI team understood the advantages of Flex technology over micro-turbines from other manufacturers, and identified the value Flex technology can bring to their clients.” Headquartered in Houston, Texas, WPI, which celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2014, supports end users in oil and gas, gas compression, power generation and mechanical drive applications. “FlexEnergy shares its turbine technology with larger, ‘traditional’ turbines rather than relying on power electronics used by other manufacturers,” said Fred Stow, director of Sales for WPI. “This will translate to lower maintenance and the highest possible reliability, equaling unrivalled uptime in the field and optimizing production economics.” The relationship between WPI and FlexEnergy will initially integrate service support across a number of shared clients in the Marcellus shale gas region, before expanding. “FlexEnergy turbines offer the widest fuel tolerance, CARB certification and do not require batteries to handle variable loads, making them ideal for remote primary power supporting upstream operations where unanticipated downtime is the core challenge,” said Llewellyn. “Our partnership with WPI has the potential to immediately improve customers’ operational efficiency in the markets where we will work with WPI.” “We will be working with Flex to bring their proven technology to our onshore clients across multiple territories and we are also excited to introduce Flex technology to our customers with offshore applications in the Gulf of Mexico,” added Stow. The companies’ partnership follows a record year for shipments of FlexEnergy’s turbines, with 2014 shipments almost triple those of 2013. Since 1924, WPI has partnered with manufacturers to provide equipment and service solutions across a multitude of applications. WPI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pearce Industries, Inc. . FlexEnergy is a privately held, New Hampshire-based business. FlexEnergy manufactures small gas turbines providing reliable, low maintenance and low emissions electricity and heat to customers globally.
