FALMOUTH, Cornwall, England (March 9, 2015) – Watson-Marlow Pumps Group announced that it has changed its name to Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group to better reflect the evolution of the company from its roots as a manufacturer of niche peristaltic pumps and tubing, to its current focus on fluid path technology. The company now encompasses seven distinct brands which, combined, deliver a complete suite of fluid technology solutions to the biopharmaceutical, industrial, food and beverage, mining, environmental and OEM market sectors. The name change follows the recent acquisition of BioPure, which signalled the company’s strategic move to offer a wider range of solutions to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical markets. Watson-Marlow has moved beyond its traditional peristaltic pump business through selective product and market sector diversification, highlighted by the additions of MasoSine (sinusoidal pumps for use in the food and beverage sector), Flexicon (filling systems and associated equipment, used in the biopharmaceutical aseptic filling sector), BioPure (aseptic tubing connection systems, used in the biopharmaceutical process sector) and non-pump transfer tubing development. The Watson-Marlow direct sales companies employ a market sectored approach to leverage these new and associated products to grow sales of our niche peristaltic and sinusoidal pumps and associated fluid path technologies. “Our new name unifies our growing portfolio of fluid path technologies, it is a better expression of who we are, and a reflection of the growing portfolio of businesses and opportunities that sit within our group,” said Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group's president, Jay Whalen. “Our sector market focus, combined with the recent acquisition of BioPure gave us the opportunity to rethink the way we present ourselves to the market. We can no longer simply be defined as a niche pump or tubing company: we now offer customers a much more holistic offering.” Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group, headquartered in Falmouth, England, has a global network of operations including seven factories and 28 direct sales offices, is part of the Spirax-Sarco Engineering Group plc.
