LOS ANGELES, December 7, 2015 – Water Planet, a global supplier of high-performance membrane-based water treatment solutions, has further expanded its engineering team with the addition of Alexander Severt as mechanical and design engineer and Jiaran Sun as research and development (R&D) engineer. Severt is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical and ocean engineering. He has been involved in several exciting projects, such as the modeling of offshore wind turbine truss systems. At Water Planet, Severt will provide modeling, fabrication and design support to the membrane and system design team. Sun joins Water Planet as an R&D engineer. A recent graduate of UCLA with a M.S. in environmental and water resources engineering, she completed her B.S in environmental and chemical engineering at Eastern China University of Science and Technology. Sun has worked as an intern in China and Germany as a researcher and lecturer in the environmental engineering field. She will assist with the development and commercialization of Water Planet’s PolyCera polymer and membranes. “Both Alexander and Jiaran bring superior credentials and valuable experience to Water Planet. We are pleased to welcome them to our team as we continue to grow our business and move forward with the commercialization of exciting innovations such as the revolutionary PolyCera membrane filtration technology,” said Eric Hoek, CEO of Water Planet. The Water Planet team has provided scores of water treatment systems to customers around the world. Water Planet was named West Coast Water Management Company of the Year in the 2014 Oil & Gas Awards. The company’s proprietary innovations include PolyCera membranes and IntelliFlux controls. Its PolyCera membrane filtration technology offers ceramic-like performance with polymer economics and represents a new paradigm in the industry. PolyCera membranes are hydrophilic and robust and are less fouling-prone, easier to clean and last longer than conventional polymeric membranes. IntelliFlux controls make any membrane filtration technology perform more reliably and affordably through self-adaptive flux management. Water Planet markets a range of membrane-based water treatment systems—powered by IntelliFlux—for water reuse and desalination. Based in Los Angeles, California, Water Planet develops and markets breakthrough water treatment membrane products and solutions to solve the world’s most challenging water reuse and desalination applications.
