HOUSTON (22 September 2014) – The third Middle East Turbomachinery Symposium (METS 2015) is returning to Doha 16-18 February 2015 with short courses running in conjunction with the event at the Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel. CAIRO (22 September 2014) – GE Oil & Gas and Petrojet Egypt, a multidisciplinary contractor who specializes in providing EPC services for the oil and gas sector, celebrated the local manufacture in Egypt of the 1,000th API certified sucker rod pumping unit.
The 1,000th pumping unit celebration was formally inaugurated by senior government officials and representatives of GE Oil & Gas and Petrojet.
ASKER, Norway (Sept. 22, 2014) – The Greek construction company Aktor has awarded Cambi a contract for the installation of Cambi’s Thermal Hydrolysis THP B6 system at Psyttalia Island Wastewater Treatment Works in Athens. Serving 5.6 million people, Psyttalia is the largest wastewater treatment plant in Greece and one of the largest in Europe. When operational in 2015, the Cambi system will treat about 50 dry tons of biological sludge per day.
HOUSTON (Sept. 22, 2014) – NOV Mono has delivered a turnkey project to provide an extra level of protection for a major water and waste treatment plant in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The project centers on an EZstripTM progressing cavity pump which is now being used on sewage transfer duties to ensure that the plant can guarantee the quality of the treated sewage under any flow conditions.
SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Sept. 22, 2014) – Xylem Inc. provided ultrafiltration solutions as part of the upgrade of the Santa Eufemia municipal water treatment plant, north of Oporto in Portugal. As a result of the upgrade, the plant has a new capacity of 24 million liters per day, providing clean drinking water to 80,000 people in the Guimarães and Vizela regions.
HELSINKI (Sept. 22, 2014) – The HERCULES research and development (R&D) program to develop large engine technologies, which was initiated in 2004 as a joint vision by two major European engine manufacturing groups, Wärtsilä and MAN Diesel & Turbo, will continue with a new HERCULES-2 project, pending approval under the Horizon 2020 EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
HOUSTON (Sept. 21, 2014) – Dresser-Rand Group Inc. announced that it has entered into a definitive merger agreement with Siemens under which Siemens will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Dresser-Rand common stock for $83.00 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $7.6 billion, including the assumption of debt.
