ERLANGEN, Germany (May 12, 2014) – Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center in Florida began commercial operation on April 1. Plant operator is Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), a subsidiary of America’s leading energy utility NextEra Energy Inc. Siemens supplied three of its SGT6-8000H-gas turbines for the project, each of which delivers an electrical generating capacity of 274 megawatts (MW).

HELSINKI (May 9, 2014) – The city of Alexandria, La., has contracted Wärtsilä to supply a gas-fired power plant for long-term supply of peaking power. The contract was signed in March 2014.

The new power plant will have an output of 60 MW from seven Wärtsilä 34SG engines running on natural gas. The project is an extension of the existing D.G. Hunter Generating Station.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (May 9, 2014) – Watts Water Technologies Inc. (WTS) named Robert J. Pagano Jr., ITT Corp.’s (ITT) industrial process business president, as its chief executive officer, ending a four-month search.

ITT announced that Pagano, 51, resigned effective May 26 to take over the top post at Watts Water. Dean Freeman, who served as interim chief after David Coghlan resigned in January, will resume his duties as chief financial officer.

ERLANGEN, Germany (May 8, 2014) – Siemens Energy has received an order to deliver customized direct electrical heating (DEH) power supply systems for ten subsea flow lines, with an option for two additional systems. The customer is BP Exploration Limited, and all the systems are to be deployed on BP-operated Shah Deniz gas field in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. Delivery of the equipment is scheduled for the end of 2015.
