CARY, N.C. (Aug. 18, 2014) – After five years of success in the U.S., ABB announced its first Automation and Power World (APW) event in Mexico. Industry leaders from around the world will gather to discuss innovation and energy reform in Mexico City for ABB’s Technology Solutions for the Future of Energy event, Aug. 21-22. “Mexico’s first APW will be an opportunity for industry leaders to learn about new technology solutions that make business more productive, efficient and profitable,” said Pierre Comptdaer, CEO, ABB in Mexico. “Hosting an event of this caliber in Mexico solidifies the importance of the region to the overall productivity and success of ABB North America.” ABB announced in 2013 that North American revenues more than doubled in the previous five years to $8.5 billion and the number of employees on the continent rose to more than 27,000 from 11,300. The expansion in North America is a critical component of the company’s 2015 growth strategy. Q2 growth and cash numbers were released on July 23, with positive growth momentum supported across all regions. Comptdaer will be joined by Greg Scheu, CEO ABB Inc. and region manager North America, for a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the opening of the Technology and Solution Center. “Mexico continues to be an important priority to the growth of ABB in North America,” said Scheu. “With a strong and successful focus on the development of renewables, energy reform initiatives and efficient energy solutions, Mexico remains a preeminent region for power and automation solutions.” In 2012, ABB won the Mexican International Renewable Congress (MIREC) Award in the Best Renewable Energy Projects category for its PV solar park in its San Luis Potosi campus. Presentations and forums will discuss megatrends affecting the industry, including challenges for water infrastructure, automotive industry trends and successes, mining industry challenges, solar and renewable trends, the future of oil and gas and the efficiency, reliability and speed offered by robot solutions. ABB provides power and automation technologies that increase performance while lowering environmental impact.
