ATLANTA (July 8, 2013) – Electrical Machinery Company, part of the WEG Group has built and serviced motors and turbo generators for more than 120 years. One of the earliest examples still operating is located in Putnam, Conn., and was built in 1919. This 335KVA unit has been rewound a few times in its long life but has the original lamination stack and original rotor poles.
ELMHURST, Ill. (July 9, 2013) – Val-Matic acquired a 60,000-square-foot building in Addison, Ill. This will be its second facility and will provide the company with a total of 177,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space. The new facility will be used for their largest valves and new industrial Trunnion Ball and Triple Offset Butterfly Valves. It will also be used for the Engineering Research and Development personnel and the Engineering Laboratory and Flow Loop.
HOUSTON (July 9, 2013) – Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) recently completed an expansion of its control plant located in Houston. The expansion provides an additional 107,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space and is scheduled to commence production in the new space by fall 2013.

CHICAGO (July 9, 2013) – GE has been selected by ComEd, a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation and the electric utility serving Northern Illinois, to deliver approximately 4 million smart meters from 2013 to 2021 in a deal worth more than $200 million (U.S.). The smart meters will allow ComEd’s customers to better manage their energy usage and help ComEd more quickly detect and restore power outages.
