TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (May 24, 2012) – Hitachi America, Ltd., Industrial Components and Equipment Division, announced that it is relocating its Charlotte, N.C., facility to a larger facility. While remaining in Charlotte, the new facility is 38,400 sq. ft., increasing the company’s working space by 42 percent. The larger facility is needed to accommodate projected growth in sales. The company anticipates that the relocation will be completed by the end of June 2012.

WASHINGTON (May 24, 2012) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Justice announced that BP North America Inc. has agreed to pay an $8 million penalty and invest more than $400 million to install state-of-the-art pollution controls and cut emissions from BP’s petroleum refinery in Whiting, Ind.

WASHINGTON (May 23, 2012) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program recently awarded $2 million to 25 companies in support of technology development toward sustainable solutions for the environment. The SBIR program is part of EPA’s Technology Innovation for Environmental and Economic Progress: An EPA Roadmap, which focuses on linking research and development, policy and finance.

BURLINGTON, Canada (May 22, 2012) – ClydeUnion Pumps, an SPX Brand, has relocated its Canadian works to a new facility in Burlington, Ontario, almost doubling its manufacturing footprint. The new site provides increased regional production capacity, allowing larger between bearings style pumps to be manufactured on site. The operation’s new upgraded pump test facilities means pumps can be proven locally in what is now North America’s highest power test facility for ClydeUnion Pumps.
