Xylem Inc. rang the New York Stock Exchange opening bell to mark its spinoff from ITT Corporation. That same day, children and families in the rural community of Madhugiri, India also celebrated.

Siemens is gearing up for continued growth in its new fiscal year, especially in the emerging markets like Africa, after ending fiscal 2011 with record operating results. On the occasion of the company's global board members meeting in South Africa, Peter Löscher, President and CEO of Siemens AG, announced that Siemens will be creating 500 new green jobs in Africa in the coming years. "Siemens will increasingly look to rapidly growing economies like Africa to meet our growth targets.
