WASHINGTON (Sept. 24, 2013) – The global energy industry must play a greater role in the transition to sustainable energy systems if United Nations development goals are to be met, warns a report launched by the World Energy Council (WEC).

The potential for billions of people benefiting from sustainable energy systems in future decades hangs in the balance without increased private sector support, it says.

HELSINKI, Finland (Sept. 19, 2013) – Metso's automation business has been recognized by the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (ABTCP) with the award of "Top supplier of automation for the pulp and paper industry." The voting phase included professionals from the sector and a strict technical evaluation of the candidates. The awards, regarded as the most prestigious in the pulp and paper segment in Brazil, have been organized by ABTCP for the past 12 years.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland (Sept. 19, 2013) – Xylem Inc. has won a contract to develop and install a secondary wastewater treatment solution that will eliminate effluent odor problems and significantly improve the quality of wastewater in the town of Tolu on the Colombian Caribbean coast. The Xylem solution is one of the first wastewater treatment systems using ultraviolet (UV) disinfection to be developed in Colombia.
