HOUSTON (Dec. 22, 2015) -- Dr. Dara W. Childs has announced the appointment of Dr. Luis San Andrés as associate director of the Texas A&M Turbomachinery Laboratory. In addition to his research activities, Dr. San Andrés will take on a larger role assisting Dr. Childs in managing the operations of the Turbo Lab and its various symposia and continuing education programs. Dr. San Andrés is chairman of the Asia Turbomachinery and Pump Symposium advisory committee and is leading efforts in organizing the inaugural ATPS program to be held in Singapore in February 2016. Dr. San Andrés will continue to uphold and foster the standards of excellence in education and research that have made the Turbomachinery Laboratory symposia the premier events in the rotating machinery industry. He relies on the outstanding tradition established by Dr. Childs and the members of the various industrial advisory committees as well as an extremely qualified professional staff. Additionally, Dr. Childs has announced his intention to retire from Texas A&M University and Director of the Turbo Lab by December 31, 2017. He hopes to stay involved with the various symposia committees after his retirement.
