ZURICH, Switzerland (Feb. 12, 2013) – ABB has agreed to acquire APS Technology Group (APS), a San Diego, Calif.-based company that develops and markets solutions for the port industry. The acquisition will expand ABB’s crane system portfolio to the container terminal market. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2013.

HELSINKI (Feb. 11, 2013) – Metso has opened a new Automation service center in Ratchaburi, Thailand. The service center supports Metso’s strategy to grow its Automation business globally and strengthens Metso’s service capabilities in Thailand. Metso has large installed base for process automation products and valves especially in Thai pulp and paper industry, with customers like Siam Cement Group (SCG) which has a pulp mill and several paper mills in the area.

MORTON GROVE, Ill. (Feb. 13, 2013) – Xylem Inc., announced the Bell & Gossett® Little Red Schoolhouse® has received LEED certification for another of its industry-renowned courses. The Schoolhouse’s Design & Application of Water-Based HVAC Systems course has been approved by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) to provide credit toward the credential maintenance requirements of LEED certifications.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Feb. 11, 2013) – Xylem Inc. has been awarded a $617,000 contract from the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) for five marine monitoring buoys that will collect high-quality data for researchers studying climate change in the Caribbean Sea, including the waters of Barbados, Belize, the Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago.
