CALGARY, Alberta – SIMMONS EDECO announced that it has been awarded a contract by Weatherford de Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V., a subsidiary of Weatherford International, to provide drilling services to Canadian-based Renaissance Oil Corp. and its partner Lukoil, which are developing a diversified shale and mature fields portfolio in oil-rich Mexico. SIMMONS EDECO is to execute the 10-well Chicontepec onshore drilling program on the Amatitlán block in Veracruz, Mexico. In December 2017, SIMMONS EDECO mobilized Rig 836 to spud the Amatitlán 1649 well and operations are continuing. To optimize efficiencies, the drilling program will be conducted as much as possible from multi-well pads. Each well will be directionally drilled, targeting the Tertiary sands of the Chicontepec Formation. “Although SIMMONS EDECO has been providing drilling and well services in Mexico, this represents the first time that the company will have supplied these services on behalf of Renaisssance Oil,” says Rob Matheson, SIMMONS EDECO Vice President of Business Development. “This contract illustrates the confidence they place in SIMMONS EDECO to execute all phases of drilling operations, safely and efficiently. We welcome this opportunity to work on their behalf on this exciting, complex development,” he added. SIMMONS EDECO, which recently celebrated its 55th anniversary, has been operating in Mexico since 2015. With a long-term history of successful operations worldwide, the company is a major provider of drilling and workover services. Over time, SIMMONS EDECO has executed deep drilling operations for oil, gas, gas storage, geothermal, coal and deep geoscientific investigations for major operators and independents in Mexico and throughout the world.
