(9 March 2015)—BP Egypt announced another important gas discovery in the North Damietta Offshore Concession in the East Nile Delta. The Atoll-1 deepwater exploration well, currently being drilled using the sixth-generation semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer, has reached 6,400 meters depth and penetrated approximately 50 meters of gas pay in high quality Oligocene sandstones.
(6 March 2015)—The Satah al-Razboot offshore oil field—located about 200 kilometers northwest of Abu Dhabi in the UAE—is being developed by Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO), a major producer of oil and gas from the emirate’s offshore areas. Work on the field involves the construction of two artificial islands to facilitate drilling works for the extraction of crude oil.
ERLANGEN, Germany (9 March 2015)—Siemens, together with its partner and customer Cengiz Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., has completed the combined cycle power plant of Cengiz Enerji Samsun in Turkey two months ahead of the agreed deadline in a record construction time of 23 months only. With its SGT5-8000H gas turbine as the key component and an installed capacity of 600 megawatts, this plant reaches an efficiency level of around 61 percent, which is a new record for the 50 hertz market.
