SKF hosted their annual Technical Press Day on June 9, 2014, at Penske Headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. This was my first event to cover for Pumps & Systems, so I had a lot to learn! Here are a just a few of the things I picked up at press day.

As manager of CAMCAD’s support desk, Weatherbee is the first stop on the path to answering technical questions. Weatherbee learned everything he could about SURFCAM computer technology, CAMCAD’s database, the Internet and Microsoft software.
BUXTON, England (June 25, 2014) – Xylem announced that it is expanding its bank of Godwin brand high head dewatering pumps to cater to increased rental demand for these water removal pumps. Xylem made the announcement at the opening day of the Hillhead 2014 trade show at Hillhead Quarry, Buxton, U.K. Xylem’s range of Godwin and Flygt brand dewatering pumps were on display at the show.
TORRANCE, Calif. (June 25, 2014) – Amratec Engineering has received the Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved a superior level of performance. Amratec maintained a silver performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period.
BALTIMORE (June 24, 2014) – Danfoss has hired David Boezi as senior director, strategy & global platforms.
In this role, Boezi will help Danfoss tailor its high-efficiency compressor portfolio, including scroll and inverter compressors, to respond to changing customer needs and market demands that are being influenced by new refrigerant and energy-efficiency regulations.
GOTHENBURG, Sweden (June 23, 2014) – Swedish marine energy technology company Minesto has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Florida Atlantic University. The purpose is to examine the technical, environmental and economic feasibility to install demonstration and commercial power plants in the Florida current.
