ROTHERHAM, U.K. (Jan. 16, 2013) – The global AES Engineering Group, based in Rotherham, UK, has acquired AV Technology, of Manchester, UK, for an undisclosed sum.

AES’s high-tech seals are sold under the AESSEAL brand name. The group has 230 locations worldwide, serving customers in 100-plus countries. The combined group expects sales in excess of £150m ($239.8m) in 2013 and employs 1,555 people worldwide, with 650 based in the UK.

PARIS (Jan. 14, 2013)—GE’s Power Conversion business announced that it has won a contact of more than $10 million to supply eight pump drive trains, as well as process automation for the largest wastewater treatment plant in the world. It will be located just outside of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and will provide water for local agricultural needs.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Jan. 11, 2012) — Xylem Inc. has reduced the energy consumption of a wastewater pumping station in Sweden by 50 percent using its award-winning Flygt Experior solution. At a second station also in Sweden, Xylem’s Flygt SmartRun control system – one component of the Flygt Experior solution – has cut the energy use of the station by 30 percent.

NUREMBERG, Germany (Jan. 11, 2013) – The Siemens Drive Technologies Division has received an order from ThyssenKrupp Robins (Greenwood Village, Colo.) to supply the gearless drive system for the overland conveyor system in the Las Bambas copper mine in Peru. The owner of the mine is Xstrata Copper (Brisbane, Australia). Las Bambas will be the second Xstrata Copper mine in Peru to use gearless drives from Siemens on its overland conveyors.
